Welcome to the Matchmaker

Do you crave something in your home that feels like who you are (or who you want to become) and isn’t the same ‘new’ throw pillow that everyone else bought this season? Something that gives you that “I did it myself” pride?

Brace yourself for the wild, wonderful world of dahlias! Find your vibe in the garden (or your flower pots) and bring that feeling into your home. (Flowers can also save your sanity! I know they did mine.)

I accidentally fell into dahlias over 10 years ago and never really found my way out. From playful giant yellows to deep moody reds to romantic pinks...it seems like endless combinations can become something NEW but also uniquely…ME. How does one resist?! But also, HOW DOES ONE DECIDE…with the literal thousands of dahlia types to choose from?

That is why I have made my Dahlia Matchmaker. Just. For. You. I have spent more time than I would like to admit thinking about how colors, shapes, styles, and spaces all work together both with dahlias and in building design (a previous life of mine). Was this time well spent obsessing over flowers? I say YES! My laundry pile says it’s debatable…but now you can reap the rewards! In a nutshell, I am here to help you find dahlias that feel like you! (Your throw pillows can fend for themselves.)

Oh dahlias, sweet dahlias, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways!

Outside of basic plant needs (dirt, water, sunlight) dahlias are just enough ‘gardening’ to keep your hands busy while you talk to your bestie on the phone. There are varieties as small as 18 inches, perfect for flower pots and balconies, all the way up to 6-foot giants which can add some impressive wow-factor to your front flower bed.

Dahlias can give you MASSIVE payouts in color beginning in July all through September. The timing and easy-going flow of growing dahlias is in my opinion- perfection. I would say the majority of dahlia ‘care’ is just to be patient and let nature do what nature does, dahlias are super hands-off. Which I kinda love, cause I don’t know about you, but I’m a busy Mom too.

There are SO MANY TYPES of dahlias. 42 recognized species. 57,000 registered and named dahlias. And I don’t even KNOW what math is required to figure out how many colors, shapes, and sizes are possible. It’s a lot. Like, A LOT.

So yeah- there is probably a dahlia out there for almost any style.

This is where the overwhelm gets real and the decision fatigue kicks in. This is ALSO where the Matchmaker comes to help. 8 questions and I will send you a curated set of dahlias that I think will fit the space you have to grow and match your style. And if your dahlia matches aren’t “love at first sight”, NO PROBLEM! Take the quiz as many times as you’d like and tweak the responses to see how your collection might change.
